Instead of this being just a boring resume of my professional education and accomplishments, I would like to also you give you some information about my life so that you can get a better picture of who I really am.

First of all, I am not your typical accountant.  I could be described as "The Casual Accountant."  If you come to my office, don't expect professional business attire because you won't find it.  I work everyday in jeans and athletic shoes.  I absolutely hate to dress up and I do my best work when I am comfortable.  So, if you're coming to meet me in the office, whatever you normally wear will do just fine.

I am also not rigid and cautious like a lot of accountants.  People who know me might say that I can be somewhat impulsive and I absolutely love change.  Even though I have tried to do it many times, I have never been successful in working during normal office hours.  Some of my best work is done in the middle of the night, so don't be surprised if you get an email from me at 3:00 AM.  I really enjoy the fact that every day is different and often times doesn't turn out anything like I planned.  Life is short, so you just have to learn to go with it!

Let me tell you a little bit about my family life.  I have been married to my husband James for 24 years.  We started dating in high-school and we just can't seem to get rid of each other.  We have 3 children and they will all be legally responsible for themselves in less than a year.  Sometimes, I never thought that day would come.  When I look back, I can't believe I made it through those first few years with a newborn, 15 month old, and 28 month old!  It may not have been the best planning but it worked out for the best in the end.  They actually all work together now at a great pizza joint that just happens to be my client.

Did I mention that I am also very athletic and competitive?  I absolutely love playing indoor soccer, softball, and now, even kickball.  If you find accountants sometimes passive and wimpy, that's definitely not me.

Now, for the boring stuff.  I started college at the University of Dayton and transferred to Wright State University in my sophomore year.  I worked at Mike-Sell's Potato Chip Co. for 2 1/2 years as an accounting clerk during college.  My family moved to Austin, Texas before my senior year in college and I loved it so much that I transferred to Texas State just south of Austin.  My soon-to-be husband had joined the Air Force and was stationed in wonderful Lubbock, TX.  Within 6 months, we were married in Austin and I moved to Lubbock.  It took an extra year because of the transfers, I ended up getting my BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University! Go Red Raiders!

I started my career in corporate accounting, but decided to become a CPA after having my children.  After working several years for a few local accounting firms, I started my own firm so that I could work around my schedule with the kids.  Several times I have worked full-time for local companies over the years, but I always returned to what I enjoy - helping my own clients pay less taxes.  So, I have over almost 25 years accounting and tax experience in numerous industries and different size companies.  My family is involved in real estate, so I eventually made the decision to specialize in helping real estate agents reduce their taxes.

Well, that's my life in a nutshell!  If you are ever in Englewood, OH on a Tuesday or Friday night, stop by Englewood Indoor Soccer and say hello!  I will be there if it's open!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and please feel free to call me anytime with your accounting or tax questions.  New clients are the blood of any business!
